My name is Jessica Freeland and this is my blog.

If you explore my attic, eventually you will find lots of half finished diaries from various stages of me growing up. I’m hoping that with this blog I’ll actually manage to stick at it and keep record of all the exciting parts of my life!

This blog began to keep track of all the amazing things I was getting up to whilst studying abroad in Canada. I am now back in England, studying for a Masters in Medieval Studies, and continuing to blog when I get the chance about anything I want to remember and share.

Obviously I love history; whether it be hardcore textbooks or trashy television adaptations (especially trashy television adaptations). I eat too much, drink too much and exercise too little . Travelling is my favourite, I love to experience new cultures, the good the bad and the ugly.

It wouldn’t be right not mentioning Adam; he’s my favourite. He also deserves to be thanked for letting me drag him round while I see lots of history stuff. My adventures are almost always with him and I hope we have many more to come.

It’s a Free Land is about the fun parts of history, all the treats the world has to offer, and any other lovely stuff that I’m lucky enough to stumble upon.

We’re all mad here

  1. I love that you’re doing a term abroad, it will be a life changing experience I’m sure! Thanks for stopping by my blog today, it’s much appreciated. I hope you enjoy the Senators game! I went to a New York Rangers ice hockey game while I was visiting the US one time and it was the highlight of my trip. All the best!

  2. I’m a lover of other cultures too, and have lived and traveled all over. I look forward to checking out a bit more of your blog.
